Avoid. Waste of time. New guy (fiance) of woman goes with her to her friend's cabin. Cabin guy and woman have been friends since around age 12. He's *obviously* not ok with her impending marriage and clearly has always wanted her. (So why invite them to your cabin and torture yourself?) Fiance has a creepy-assed control-issue convo with cabin guy that sends up all kinds of red flags. The two men then go hunting with compound bows and only one gun (and apparently only 4 bullets - because that's logical and makes sense). Surprise! Fiance guy gets attacked by wolves and is left for dead by cabin guy who rushes back to cabin to admit he left fiance dying in the woods. He and woman rush to woods to search for fiance. Everyone is attacked by wolves. Cabin guy is ripped to shreds. Fiance is found half-dead after bleeding profusely for hours, and the last scene is of *severely* injured woman and fiance riding ATV back to cabin (in the middle of nowhere). They'd have probably all ready bled out and been dead in any normal/reality circumstancesby this point so it's totally unbelievable. Then the credits roll without any resolution. You're so mad that you hope they both die, drive off a cliff, into a tree, or over an IED - and that the Director was riding side-saddle when it happens. Total waste of time, POS, idiotic, go-nowhere nonsense, and makes the illegal downloading of movies TOTALLY justifiable in comparison to the BS and disappointment you'd have felt if you were stupid enough to have rented or worse, seen the thing in the theatre. Ugh. So many brain cells lost and not nearly enough drugs taken before pressing Play. Avoid like the plague.
Why is it that all screenplays in the past 4-5 years have female characters that are universally strong, smart and heroic and all male characters are stupid, weak and/or evil? I put this trend in the same category where all knives are French Chef knives (except in this film), there is a guitar on a stand or hanging on a wall in every home and every semi-automatic rifle fires in full auto mode? About this movie. Well shot; Sophie and Nolan's acting is very good. Though Kyle seems carved in wood. I suppose it's necessary to the plot that everyone behaves foolishly, but, hey, no cell phone, no handgun? Kudos for using live wolves vs CGI. Pretty thrilling action and suspense sequences and well-done gore irrespective of the fact that wolves do NOT behave this way IRW. Still a big Missy fan!
