Gai gia lam chieu 2

Well, given the movie's English title, which is "The Cougar Queen", then I must admit that I was expecting something quite else than what the movie actually turned out to be. I am guessing that the writer of the storyline and script must not be familiar with the meaning of the word 'cougar' when used about a woman. Regardless, "The Cougar Queen" (aka "Gai gia lam chieu 2") is listed as a romantic comedy, though the romance part is more dominant in the movie, and there wasn't really all that much comedy actually. In fact, the comedy was delivered by the three lady friends of Miss Q, and not actually by Miss Q and Jack. So that was a little bit odd. For a movie of this type, then "The Cougar Queen" is pretty straight forward. Director Namcito delivers exactly what you would expect from a movie such as this, for better or worse. So if you enjoy romantic comedies, then you would find some enjoyment in this 2018 Vietnamese movie. It should be said that the acting performances put on in the movie, by the entire cast was actually good, and people seemed to be enjoying participating in making this particular movie. While "The Cougar Queen" certainly was watchable, it just was a completely different kind than what I had expected it to be. So with the cougars missing from the equation, I must admit that the movie was just a bit too bland for my liking. Thus, it was actually a sort of generic romantic comedy, if you will. My rating of "The Cougar Queen" lands on a mediocre five out of ten stars.
