The House of Magic

Spoiler alert...... It was an okay storyline, but the Daniel character has issues saying the word damn over & over & over again. It might be okay if it was just once or twice, but we counted about 6x in about 20 min. Also when he shoots at a cat a bunch of times with a shotgun, it's a teency bit much. I wouldn't recommend this for small children. Unless you skip through those parts ;) other than that & a couple other scenes, it was okay. Our kids liked it.
As a parent, I would not allow my kids to watch this as one of the characters said the word "damn." Seriously, this is supposed to be a kid/family movie.
Kitten is abandoned, finds its way to a magicians house with other wacky characters, fights against evil man etc. and that's it. This is a movie with standard script without real surprises. Animation quality is good and on par with DreamWorks. But the problem? The movie is boring. Graphics are good but the characters are unforgettable. And the humor is so politically correct that it fails to amuse anyone. I watched the flick with 5 and 9 year old kids and neither laughed a single time. I myself started reading a book after the first 45 minutes. It's a shame that obviously there's a lot of effort used for the movie, but once again the script would have to be re-done. And next time hire someone who can actually write funny dialogue. And since the movie is European, then please bravely use the an European angle and the Belgium twists for visuals and gags. Now it's just watered down Dreamworks copy.
The movie lacks: energy, dramatic moments, effects, emotions in characters... :( The plot it self is nothing special, but I believe it could be a good potential if there was more action in the movie. That is, there is some action, but it is just too weak. Example, when you see your house is falling down, you scream, you go crazy, you are not calm; when you fall down you make more mass, more dust, more noise... I understand that this a small production and I don't want to claim an expert, but would love to see their next creation with more intense actions... Good luck!
