The Trouble with Mistletoe is nothing like Hallmark or Lifetime holiday movies, but that doesn't make not worth watching. If you want a non typical holiday romance with its fair share of profanity and hella hot steamy scenes, then this will be great for you. If you want to wait a whole movie to see that sweet chaste kiss, you'll want to pass on this one.
The movie was just way too simple. Both actor and actress have no chemistry at all. Willa's friends are not even shown in the movie. A big minus point.
This is a Holiday offering from Passionflix based on a beloved series of books. Our heroine in this story is Willa, who has a sad back story that she has used to motivate her to own her own business and be in a position to help make positive changes in other's lives. Our hero is Keane, who met and stood Willa up in high school for a Sadie Hawkins dance (Willa's first and only high school dance experience). Keane is also a small business owner, he buys properties like a gorgeous old Victorian and fixes them up to sell. Keane and Willa are not without problems...Keane's family isn't close and it has left him reluctant to form attachments and he is afraid of heights. Willa's past has left her in a situation where she has sworn off men, but still makes wishes with a coin in a fountain to find true love. Keane meets Willa (again) when his great-aunt leaves him with a cat, Petunia, that he can't watch while he works. The cat and Keane initially do not get along very well. Enter Willa, or more specifically her boarding services. I would like to say that magic happens at this point point, but Willa in particular is reluctant to start anything with Keane especially when he proclaims he is just good in the now (vs. Future). These two have chemistry for days and are both very attractive. Can I just say, I would have fallen in love with Keane's house alone...and to add his adorable self in to the package...we'll, sign me up! There was a lot of non-dialogue in this film, aka smoldering eyes etc. I felt there was character growth for both our hero and heroine without there being a lot of commentary on it. I guess for me this was heavy on the romance, light on the story...yet still an enjoyable watch.
I hate Christmas Romance movies of all strips. I'm only 20 minutes in to this one...and is i kinda okay. Noticeable good writing...acting...pacing. I actually want to know how this all wraps up. The characters are believable and interesting...the dialogue is snappy and fun and kinda realistic. I'm shocked. Maybe I am in the early stages of a stroke, but I really really don't hate it.
So she was traumatized by the past when he stood her up for a date In a careless way back in high school. Okay. Now in the present, 10 years later, he is all eager to be with her. Their only obstacle is her mistrust because of the past. Not strong enough. They needed a romantic rival to be in the way or something. Just one persons opinion.
