Don't expect a fast-paced film. The story builds to something big so be warned. In all the characters were great but the cinematography and story was was what sold me. Supenseful for sure. Nice job
Settle down out of the dank autumn wet and give this a watch....It excels with creepy atmosphere. Strange characters unfold in an uncomfortable lingering tense slow burn. The acting is excellent, the cinematography stand out and I love the original score which was also written by the Director-no mean feat especially considering it's a debut.
A brilliant combination of art and thrill. The 'knowing something is about to happen' mixed with the plethora of intentionally unanswered questions leaves you wanting more and more.
Anything above a 3 star rating must have been from the cast and crew because this is not a good movie and as far as "atmosphere" the fog machine was on overdrive so much that I laughed out loud because I could barely see the actors. This is so bad I thought it was a parody at first.
I would have given it a lower rating, but I felt that Theresa Bradley and Richard Hope's talented skills really added to the film. Theresa Bradley's character Maddy was excellent, suspicious, creepy, perfectly unsettling and uncomfortable in a good way. I felt like I was significantly missing information or that important details were left out. Continuity was also an issue, wine in glasses, hair and the fog scene, to the horrible beast horns CGI moment. Not sure what was going on with hair and make-up for Maddy's hair though, although, it did improve throughout - and maybe that was intentional? That being said, there was definite potential and a strong opportunity to add a bit more umpf to the rings power. Without being a spoiler review, there was also a major plot line error, 300 years, but then referred to 100 years holding power - so what happens within the 200 years to follow? That did not make any sense, further dismantling the film into a bit of a wee mess. There is definite room to re-write the screenplay and do a marginal improvement.
Its an ok kind of a movie involving cults and stuff. A couple comes to a village which has a depressing cold setting and overtly friendly neighbourhood but the neighbours have ulterior motives something we have seen in movies like Rosemary's Baby. To top it all it was slow in the beginning and never caught much pace even till the end and ends without much drama or explanation which might leave the viewer unsatisfied.
There's a Facebook group which posts strange, stupid and funny videos online called "What Did I Just Watch?" This is a dead cert for that page, under the sub heading "Stupid" Avoid this "Film" like you would spooky mist covered villages filled with freaks living in the middle of nowhere.
This movies trending for all the right reasons. Beautiful cinematography, solid cast of actors that gave it their all and the storyline was perfect. You got my support.
As of this writing, this waste of time flick was rated 6.6 on IMdb. Based on that relatively high rating alone I sought out this film. I should have known just 1/4 of the way into it that it was going to be a non-violent, sloooooooow, atmospheric film full of cliches and amateur acting. And I was right. There was nothing original in this movie and the ending made no sense. None. Zero. Zip. Total waste of 90 minutes. Skip it.
