Miriam gets stuck in a time loop where she has to kill her father who is going to kill her and her siblings, although things change from one loop to the next just to keep things interesting for the gamers. It was more interesting for them than it was for me. Blood and killing but the plot and characters were light. Guide: F-word. Nudity.

Animation in the US has been sadly limited by the gatekeepers. When I created Strange Frame, the gatekeepers said that no one would watch an animated sci-fi adventure for adults, even with a half million views then still are a broken record. The gatekeepers say that adult animation has to be comedy or it won't work. Well, To Your Last Death proves for horror that isn't true. This movie has a style similar to Archer if that show had a bigger budget, but that's where the comparison ends. TYLD drips with the blood of a thriller with plenty of gore. The voice work is amazeballs and the soundtrack is a fantastically ominous heartbeat the keeps the pressure on. The characters have just the right amount of depth and the film touches upon current themes of the environment, capitalism, psychology, and social norms without being at all preachy. The Gamemaster of TYLD has reset the rules for animation. If you're a horror fan, this is a not to miss film.

It's not terrible, it's not good either. It could have been a lot better than it turned out though. The story was sloppy and the voice acting was good for some characters but poor for others. It seemed like the film was attempting to tell some sort of life lesson with the story and how it had different possible outcomes but it just doesn't work. The animation style isn't exactly enjoyable to watch either.

This has been out awhile and I just caught wind of it on a fanboy website for comic geeks. wow. William Shatner narrates this bloody, Quintin Tarintinoish tale of redemption and fate. The gods play with us like chess pieces for their amusement in this brutal story of a powerful family at war. This was a movie that will stay with you for a long time after you watch it. Amazing. Surprised this hasn't been bought and made into a live action film. Meanwhile they are giving us "Jungle Book" and "Milan" live action - ho-hum. See this masterpiece!

Having survived a deadly encounter, a woman returns to the experience of meeting her siblings at their father's demand to sort out his inheritance, only to realize they're being tricked into payback for turning on him years earlier and must try to get them out of the deadly traps he set alongside a sadistic gamemaster. This was an incredibly fun effort with a lot to like about it. This is mainly due to the high-energy action, which keeps going at a fantastic pace that moves this along quite well. Introducing several impressive side stories introducing the different family members with their own hangups and issues which gets us going into this one quite nicely, this all sets up the lunacy to come later on by seeing where the twist involving his penchant for traps has taken. These are gruesome, bloody and wholly enjoyable, featuring a dynamic pace that is quite enjoyable due to the varying timelines that are employed and changed around due to the interference in the game that pops up at various intervals. These here end up making for a fun, twisty and highly enjoyable effort that holds it up over the few flaws on display. There are some slight issues here. One of the biggest flaws is the rather strange interjections from the time-traveling figures controlling the event of the story, who are quite confusing in how they operate. The concept of the girl trapping her in their game works fine but the idea of them changing it around on a whim manages to make the events more confusing than expected as trying to keep track of different plotlines and allegiances. The storyline itself is already tough enough to follow with the various storylines involving what's going on and what's not so to have the entire game continuously changing on us at that point is a tough way to go about this. There are a few issues some could have with the animated style as well which doesn't always seem the most immersive but that doesn't have too much really wrong with this one. Rated Unrated/R: Extreme Graphic Violence, Graphic Language and Brief Nudity.

I had no idea what to expect going into this, but man was I pleasently surprised. The script is tight, the animation is cool, the celebrities are well-integrated and not just thrown on top. I had a film in the same festival as them (Pasadena International Film Festival) and was just blown away. I don't know if anything exists quite like it. Highly recommend!

Not your average horror film. In fact, nothing is average about this gem. A chilling metaphor for family dysfunction, TYLD was a wild, weird ride with a strong payoff and unbroken tension, throughout. It's Edge of Tomorrow meets Saw but with its own unique take on character and family dynamic. The VO talent was well-cast - it was easy to forget who was voicing whom, so easily did they dissolve into (and seem to have plenty of fun with) their roles. I lost count the number of times I wondered, "How will Miriam ever make it out of this one?" Each character was compelling and severely damaged in intriguing ways, and the humor was well-placed, not overdone, and razor sharp (get it?). I looked forward to watching this from when I first heard about it, and it did not disappoint. The writing was tight - it set a high bar for character development and heart in a way that never talks down to its audience. Overall, I found it original, unexpected, imaginative, and bizarre in the best of ways. You'll be glad you checked it out.

This film is truly ground breaking. I normally am not into horror flicks, but this is so unique and innovative that I was spellbound watching it. The music, pacing, storyline, mood. It all blends in a way that keeps you compelled. If you're Looking for a good horror movie and you love animated films with cutting edge film making, this is for you.
