Must watch, It is a great movie which exposes the real truth of society. No one wants to talk about this truth. But this movie has brought this truth in front of the society. It has been shown very well that how even today such disgusting acts are prevalent in our society. And it is a matter of great shame for this society that even today we have not been able to end such disgusting acts. Excellent acting has been displayed by John Abraham and other characters. The characters have been portrayed well. The action, emotions and truth have been portrayed well, which makes it a great film. So must watch.
Has anyone ever told you that the caste system sucks? I mean, of course they have, but Nikkhil Advani's "Vedaa" is going to scream about it again anyways. You would think that a movie about the caste system is practically a layup, but for some reason, it treats the topic with a level of seriousness that's almost comical. "Vedaa" puts all its energy into fighting shadow boogeymen, where by the end of the movie, all you've watched is yet another commercial action flick with a caste discrimination setting, made to satiate either the fans or the ego itself of a particular actor. All that being said, at least the movie tries to keep you entertained, and entertained not by the quality of the movie you're watching, but rather in a sense of being entertained by random car chases, gunshot action and fight sequences. It's Bollywood being Bollywood at the end of the day, and this is as Bollywood as it gets.
VEDAA-Same old wine in a newly shaped & modern looking bottle. The theme of the movie was the continuous oppression of the lower caste by the upper caste in the remote villages of India,&the former's never ending struggle to end this atrocity. We have seen this story many many times in Hindi cinema,so there was nothing new at all here. Once again the songs were totally unnecessary. More often than not or generally speaking the lower caste/Dalits/untouchables are usually of a very dark complexion,so having the upper caste leader of the region being of a very dark complexion was a huge miscast. His uncle(another upper caste member) who was about 5 shades darker than him was a greater miscast. Everyone's acting was average with John(as expected) being exceptional in the action sequences. The movie at 2hrs 30 minutes was about 20 minutes too long. 5/10.
