let's watch together
This has gone too far!!!, Let me warn you about something if you intend to watch this movie... its one more film that is made using only 2 actors so that they can minimize the cost and make lots of money selling junk(like most of the films that come out the last 5 years),in the beginning I thought the director had chosen intentionally the equipment of the facility that the film was set on to be outdated monitors and metallic boxes with colorful lights to make it look like its some retro post apocalyptic set up , THATS NOT THE CASE, if you look back in the movie and take notice between the CRT monitors are some TFT screens with windows ( most probably they went and bought for a few bucks old displays and put some other crap in there like tft just because they were laying around) , while in the movie there are old light bulbs in the buttons of the boxes we can see that in the hazmat suit there is a cheap Chinese led bar light (probably brought off ebay for 3 $),the hazmat suit is made of stitched plastic wrap material like the one that is used in the base of tents for outdoor camping) , WE ARE SUPPOSED to believe that people had been in cryo stasis chambers for lots of years when the chambers are not even air tight (when the lid opens in the end of the movie we can see black foam material used for isolation THE SAME ONE WE BUY FROM SUPERMARKETS TO CLOSE GAPS IN OUR WINDOWS AND DOORS), in the back of the hazmat suit is a plastic tube in gray color that I bet my head is bought off Leroy merlin or Praktiker for toilets and bathrooms ,DO I NEED TO SAY ANYTHING MORE ? TAKE A 1 OUT OF 10 AND THATS TOO MUCH FOR WASTING ALL THESE PEOPLES TIME,either make a proper movie or STOP IT
Another film, set after the apocalypse world. Unlike the other films associated with the apocalypse, here you will not see any effects, the film takes place essentially in the bunker which saved all the people (anesthetized , it must be said) are essential for continued human existence. All of this film you will see only two people playing. Even if the idea behind the film is fine, the script was bad , not to mention the investment inferior to the film itself. In addition, the film just terribly slow and boring. Even in the second part of the film tended plot completely different place, and not at all in a positive sense. In addition to what really bugged me was that it was one of the guys talked to some imaginary woman throughout the film. In short, you do not know what I suffered ... Rating 2 out of 10 .
Air has an intriguing central premise. With its attention-grabbing prologue, it is initially evocative, compelling and smart. But as it progresses, disappointingly draggy and uneventful, the air burns and we are suffocated with undeveloped ideas, lethargic conversations, and void silences. It loses excitement and nothing seems to hold viewer's interest anymore. Its material is scarce and director Cantamessa desperately tries to prolong each scene but to no avail. A compact short film would have been more functional and dramatic. The final act, totally absurd and jaw-dropping, is an anticlimax, draining what air is left in the film. As not much event is going on, the film is driven by its two heroes as they make moral choices. Yet, the film fails to explore deeper layers of their characters as they are limited to lazy dialogues and hazy remembrances. There is no sense of psychology and we are left not caring with what happens to them. In both man-to-man and man-to-nature conflicts, the film misses to hit near the mark. The film's limitation in resource is obvious with its outdated backdrop. Monochromatic computer monitors, dot-matrix printers, cheesy buttons and easily-tampered pipes make up the facility. If the movie has been created decades ago, it would have been acceptable. But it is made presently and having such technology in the future when the apocalypse will take place simply does not make sense. Both actors did a decent job with their characters. As usual, Reedus is always efficient as someone rough and rugged. His Bauer is not derivative of his Walking Dead's Daryl as there is not much action and physical scuffles happening in the movie. Hounsou is soulful as the steadfast and compliant Cartwright. His moments with Holt, though creepy, are tender and sweet. With its short cast, drab shoots and poor setting, Air immediately floats into oblivion.
This is my first review on IMDb because today I got motivated to write one. All because this movie deserves a higher grade, but got low ratings from people expecting to see Star Wars or Star Trek when they heard that this is a SCIENCE fiction movie. So before I start: 1. This is not Star Trek where small midgets run around with sharp ears and shoot among themselves with green and blue laser guns. So in other words, this movie is SCIENCE fiction. Star Trek is CHILDREN's fiction. 2. Thus said, probably the poor reviews came from people who were expecting to see a Star Trek movie. 3. Surprisingly great acting from a guy who came from a very shallow show like The Walking Dead. If you want to watch a bunch of pointless running around, explosions, hot chicks on bikes with laser guns killing zombies while standing on one foot and throwing fire through her ears, then don't watch this movie. 4. But you liked Moon, Interstellar, Sunshine, etc you will enjoy this. This is a very intelligent, well thought SCIENCE fiction thriller movie, and we need more of these.
Maybe I was supposed to find a deep meaning to this movie, but I thought it was stupid. It was dark through the entire movie, 3 characters, very little understandable dialogue. I wasted $7.99 and my time. The only reason I chose this movie is because I am a fan of Norman Reedus from "Walking Dead". Don't waste your time on this terrible movie! It is slow. It is depressing. There is no action. I understand the story line, they were protecting the chosen people meant to restart civilization. How about some flashbacks to what happened. How about some intelligent conversation between the actors. Most of the movie had Hounsou crawling though air vents wearing a mask.
My husband knew the movie was going to be bad right from the start. He said, "sounds like B-rated music". When they paused unnecessarily on a stupid cat poster, that's the point when I realized he was right. This is one of the worst movies I've seen in a long time. I love Norman. He's a fantastic actor. So disappointing. I also love the sci-fi genre and really wanted to like this movie. I've allowed myself to like other strange flicks out there (The Signal, Solaris). However, Air had no substance, no in-depth story, no real purpose. Air is a great title for it as it's nothing more than terribly wasted time and air. Hopefully Norman sticks to The Walking Dead, and doesn't venture into something dreadfully boring like this again.
Found the sense of isolation, seclusion, possible hallucination (?) and building paranoia immersive as I find them intriguing as themes to begin with; kept me glued. The sense of "unknowing" is vital in this one since leaves viewers with an unsettled feeling. Hence, I like that this gives only enough context without an all-out explanation as a prelude. Good story about characters thrown together into circumstances beyond their control and how they handle the unexpected. I found the pace just right, not too fast and not too slow either. Bottom line, I'd watch it again!
