This movie has heart. Unlike many, the main character is actually given space to really be at her lowest point and lets the audience fester in that unhappy place. It makes the story arc even more poignant/earned. Great side characters. My favorite is the sassy/rude roommate!
With so many dynamics running through this film between the contusion of loss, the inability to close old wounds, and the unhealthy yet desired use to drugs and alcohol to suppress overwhelming grief, the actors portrayed these dynamics so well in such an organic fashion. This film lived up to all the accolades it received and is a must see. I can see this film working well as a catalyst to open the discussion on working through and overcoming grief.
The highest percentage of my rating goes to the storyline of the movie. It really hits home on a lot of relatable to topics from coping with loss, how it's like living in LA with other egocentric creatives, and dealing with the highs and lows of friendship. I definitely took into consideration that this was done on an extremely low budget, so I didn't expect much from the film score or cinematic production. Having the film scored though, for me, would have made scenes, where emotions were high, way more impactful. Nonetheless, the casting and performances of the trio of characters Harper, Dusty, and Kyle really made up for it. The actors really brought home how hard it is to handle a loss by yourself and to feel isolated even when you're surrounded by friends bringing a lot of emotion on screen.
This movie tells a really heart wrenching story. The performances from the cast are very good. Overall I was truly impressed, you typically don't see storytelling at this quality in non-studio movies.
Funny, heartfelt, awkward when it was supposed to be. I highly enjoyed and recommend this movie. Great performances from the Cast and beautifully shot by the Crew. Loved the music.
A heartfelt and funny piece with great acting and directing. Definitely worth a watch!
The story line for this film was absolutely amazing!
