One of so many romances suported by impressive locations and a presumed erudition. Nothing original or realistic or romantic. But good ocasion to use a fairy tale theme in superficial manner. And this is, in good measure, what real matters. Not so bad acting ( sure, with some indulgence), not awful story ( the dose of indulgence becomes more serious ) . The air of presumed air of treasure hunter, the legends and the diaries, books are good tools for reasonable chain of adventures and illusion of romance. The good point - the comunity spirit. In short, a poor film with some presumed sparkles. And this is all.
Original meeting! Jokes are funny, too much work and no play makes maddie a dull woman, she's so stupid, seems like they cut out some lines??? I think she's trying to kill him tbh, best chemistry i've seen in these films, props department could have done wayyyy better, the scenes of them doing activities together are so awkward, ending is meh and it's such a shame that there were such unrealistic parts? And the mayor???? What was that about??? Literally so confused. I only write these reviews so i can remind myself what happened in these films. Overall, this film started strong but definitely deflated.
Legend based on myth or truth? Of course. Maddie thinks it's true. At least she hopes it's true. The future of her museum depends on it. Meanwhile, Fitz needs something to save tourism for the island he loves. Thus starts the search for the lover's stone. And that's the story. It's not surprising they had to throw in Fitz's girlfriend to liven things up. It didn't help. I never saw anyone so unenthusiastic about proposing to his girlfriend and that was before he really got to know Maddie. I was not familiar with Katrina Norman. I didn't recognize Tilky Jones but I had seen him in a couple of forgettable roles. The two had some mild chemistry. Like the story, nothing very exciting and no surprises. The ending is more cheesy than sappy. I like sappy, but this was too over the top for me.
The location is beautiful, the happy ending is multifaceted and, whilst there's also a lot wrong - too much to list - it is worth appreciating this movie was released in the Covid pandemic. I probably won't watch it again, but The Charm of Love slightly restored my faith in humanity during these unpredictable times.
Must find a lovers stone or the museum closes; how lame. Girl meets bed n breakfast employee, very predictable. He is with island festival committee, who must save the festival. The myth of the lovers stone will bring in tourists. Extras in the movie make up for bad tourists. Girl gets lost in jungle...and is rescued. Senario--girl helps boy with festival, boy helps girl find stone and the same old ending as all other "hallmark" type movie But the dialog is just bad.
Old fashion romantic romp that grows on you on the strength of female lead Katrina Norma and her beau, a lovable charmer in the person of Tilky Jones. The story is chintzy. Katrina went treasure hunt in order to save her museum. She comes to scenic exotic island, ancient manuscript in hand, and meets inn owner Jones, who is based in New York but comes to the island to revive business for the charming historic Pierre Hotel. Katrina's beauty and personality grows on you during her encounter with the affable Jones. Their time together comprises much of the movie while assorted colorful, island-appropriate characters complement the back set. It's like going to an old ice cream shop when you are out on dinner stroll - comforting and everything comes out as expected. Should you be fickled and go hard on that creamery owner for not inventing new surprise gimmicks or do you enjoy the moment ?
Good as a background movie where you don't have to actually pay attention. But seriously though, she goes hiking on heels? Are you all out of your mind? 😅
Reused plot as in Pearl in Paradise with minor efforts of writing, directing etc, some nonsense and errors here and there, but nice locations, great lead actress, main actor had less expressivity, but I find it understandable. No great chemistry, but an enjoyable movie overall!
Whatever Up Tv is - they should find another genre - this film has a great and creative story and beautiful scenery but just didn't deliver when it came to script and cast - no chemistry, no genuineness.... worth watching just for the fun story but only just.....
I don't expect Oscar quality, I just fancied an easy rom com with a predictable ending. My gawd this was bad. Writing and acting is flat. And who dressed her? Seriously? Who wears wedged heels trying to find a lost treasure on an island? Or her long sleeved tight top on a beach? Is this Iceland? And who handles a very old book in such a humid climate in an office with bare hands? The pathetic scene where she gets lost in the "jungle" (I mean, was that someone's backyard?) and the snake that was clearly thrown at her? The girlfriend/business manager/future fiancé was such a non story and her character added absolutely nothing to an already hopeless storyline. Because the whole movie was so flat these and some other tiny details were really irritating. Don't waste your time. Plenty of other easy watching chick flicks that are predictable without the massive cringe factor. Story could have made a nice chick flick. Producers failed to pull that off.
