Goodness, I can't imagine anyone not liking this movie. It's family friendly, it's sweet, it's emotional. Just sit back on your couch with your popcorn and enjoy. Highly recommend it, James Welch Henderson, Arkansas 2/2/2021
What was OK? The relationship between the two daughters, the chef was charming, and the location/settings were gorgeous. Otherwise, the movie was decent and enjoyable without the special factor. It wasn't that memorable to me. What makes a movie memorable? Touching scenes! Maybe even more developed relationships between the siblings and the parents and how they work together to form their bonds. It was nice to see a daughter helping a mother plan her wedding and wanting it to be special for her, as opposed to the suggested and plain 'justice of the peace' marriage, which was included in the story. It was also nice to see the relationship dynamic of the father-daughter and how they bonded after the mother was out of the picture. The relationships were good, but they could have been deeper. Hallmark is mostly about love stories and happy endings, so let's bring more love to the stories.
A lovely Hallmark film, with a good "young loves meet years later" theme. I especially liked the scenes between the lead couples daughters, I thought that made for a nice different element in these quite formulaic films. With good performances given by all, this was fun. I was amazed to learn that there are (at the time of writing) 4 sequels though!
I did the same thing an earlier reviewer did... I checked the reviews here to see if anyone else was annoyed by that dreadful wig perched on Josie Bissett's head. In previous Hallmark movies, I have frequently been irritated by the ridiculous false eyelashes plastered on the leading actresses, only to discover this new distraction in a Hallmark offering. Why, oh why, can't Hallmark allow its actresses to look more natural?!?! But, getting back to this wig. I decided I couldn't hack watching the movie because of that stupid hairpiece. However, I noticed there were a number of sequels so I checked the reviews of the second movie and discovered that Hallmark had allowed Bissett to ditch the wig. Hallelujah! So I am giving the original movie a second chance.
I love Jack Wagner. I had such high hopes for this TV movie. I was excited because it was age appropriate. I was beginning to believe Halmark believed that only young, attractive people deserve love. But unfortunately this miss the mark. Typical storyline just with older actors in the roles. The backdrop was nice...enjoyed the supporting cast. But they missed the mark with casting their female lead. I felt the lack of chemistry to be awkward. They both seemed uncomfortable and unbelievable that they had this thing long ago and to present day. I was confused with the character of Olivia, just uptight, unnatural...sorry Josie but no Dianne Keaton there (in ref to Jack interview of her character) The whole movie just didnt flow. It always bothers me about the sweetheart thing...they break up and go on to marry other people. The previous dead spouse is always insignificant....the movie is Cheesy in places. Ties up in the typical way, man writes new song for love interest..and Kiss. I know this is suppose to be a wholesome show but the lack of affection is unbelievable. Over snd over, this movie makes the viewer believe he settled with the dead wife...maybe they will get it right on the second one.
I am here in 2021 watching the movie right now and I had to check online to see if anyone else noticed how BAD the wig on Josie's head is. Sure enough... EVERYONE seems to have noticed it. I thought maybe she was sick and needed a wig for some reason. Not sure what that's all about, but apart from that. It is the predictable feel good Hallmark movie. It all ends up great in the end. We need these movies once in a while. Especially when the worlds is not the safest place in these times. Thank you Hallmark. :)
Worst wig worn by Jodie Bassett. Distracting all through the movie.
