Brain Freeze

I reckon if you take one message from this movie, it has to be: only drink Coca Cola ... I'm kidding of course, but there is some movie truth in there. The brain freeze of the title does happen during the run time of the movie - of course it very likely is also a wordplay on what happens to many people in this. A nice little movie, with interesting leads. The main focus though (and not just because the director said it), is the baby of the movie. And while for some, babies in movies can feel cliche and annoying (I emphasize I am talking about movies, not the real world), the baby in this movie is amazing. I doubt it will get nominated for an Oscar/Academy Award, like the director suggested in his video message to us festival goers, but you can clearly see how good the little ones are (played by twins). Other than that, you can expect the usual ... good effects overall though, well acted and edited too. Predictable and a bit of a let down when it comes to the ending (which is a bit cliche to say the least), but nobody is perfect, right?

I've seen many zombie movies, this one isnt in any way special, but it aint particularly annoying either, because it has some nice jokes. It'll do... Unfortunately I had to watch a redubbed version, with English studio voices mixed in, so the mouths were moving when no words were coming out. THAT was kinda annoying. Was the original language French Canadian?

So there is some kind of virus that contaminated the water and everyone who drunk water became a zombie .. a teenager who doesnt like water doesnt get infected neither does his baby sister who always feeds from a bottle water. Struggling to survive ,they meet a not infected guy who's trying to save his infected daughter and together they are trying to figure out what's happening. 2 girls appear all of the sudden and its more likely that they are the reason for this whole mess , why they did it ? We dont know .. whats the purpose? Thier goal? NOT AXPLAINED And it seemed they wanted to blow up the golf club .. again why? Donno . They feed the baby some green pills and then the baby turns into a zombie. Why? What are those pills? Not explained .. then the baby turns back to a normal baby and appeared to be not infected and some infected guy also turns back to being not infected.. what happened? Why? They didn't explain!! Too many detailed not explained i feel like they fogot to put some scenes there !

The film follows a teen as he takes care of his baby sibling during a local outbreak of zombies on a secluded island. This is definitely not a comedy unless your idea of such are Twin female assassins in wet suits and carrying pistols with silencers showing up about half way through the movie. THAT was pretty humorous. Perhaps light hearted is a better phrase. A bit too long. 5 out of 10 stars.

Compared to the overly saturated zombie market this wasn't too bad. I've seen better or worse zombie movies in the last year. There's a few interesting things going for this but overall it falls flat. The only half decent acting was from Roy Dupuis and the other characters you'd want dead from the zombies ASAP.
