Bundy Manor

When Lyssa Penrod's (Julie Cordell-Seamons ) mother dies, she goes to her house with her family to tie up ends. She travels with her husband Eric (Paul Anthony Sonnier Jr.) a journalist and two children Ash (Claire Pace ) and Lila (Ilara Phoenix Williams ). It is a small Arizona town where everybody knows everybody. Their house is located across from Bundy Manor, a place where people go to be scared through mild torture, suffocation, isolation, and blood drinking. The screams that come from the Manor keep the family up at night and at odds with the owner Rob Jurgonson (Walter Mecham ). Rob and Eric get into a heated argument that involves a deal or bet in which Eric must go through "the haunt." Eric loses and suspects something else is going on as the fake blood tasted real. The acting was more scary than the haunt. The script has very poor dialogue coupled with bad directing.. Alexander Boyd Watson should not do horror films. Gide: No swearing, sex, or nudity.

Arriving at a new house, a new family in town meets up with the owners of a local nearby haunt and tries to make friends only for it to turn into a series of argumentative confrontations that forces them to go through the confines of the haunt where they don't know if it's real or not as they go through it. This was a pretty fun effort with a lot to like about it. Among the more likable factors here is the setup throughout here where it tends to focus rather nicely on the idea of whether or not the course of action at the attraction. The behind-the-scenes work done at locations featured here where we get the truth about what he's doing but still see him keeping up appearances around town trying to be a helpful neighbor or other member of the community helps to build a rather fun setup here. With the backstory of the attraction here through the social media clips or first-hand comments, that all goes a long way towards the interactions in the final half where it starts to bring up the idea that something duplicitous is going on and the way it all leads into the fantastic finale where nothing is completely sure what's going on that's all fun to watch for quite a lot to like. There are some minor drawbacks to be had with the film. The main drawback with this one is the rather overlong running length where this one takes quite a while to get going with unnecessary elements to beef up the running time. The exploits of the family moving into the neighborhood and their personal issues works well enough at first but soon grows repetitive with it being the same type of drama the whole way through, and it just grows more tiresome the more it carries on with the inability to rise above being a cliched version of the strained family relationship, especially as it gets brought up later on as a means of downgrading the severity of their queries to look into the incidents at the haunt. This whole part just stretches the film out quite a bit longer than it should which is a factor to get over. Rated Unrated/R: Graphic Language and Violence.

Awesome combination of comedy & horror. It has the smallest budget humanly possible, and it does drag in the beginning, but after the Jorgensens arrive with what looks like a bowl of blood (Jello, anyone?) it starts to get creepier and funnier. I love the wife, Leah ... she tells the husband/killer after he slices off a victim's arm, "You need to stop using that liquid plastic-you could get brain damage!" The satirical script is the best feature of the film, which gets continuously better as all the usual tropes are interwoven with the unexpected. The drama, camp, horror and absurdity intersect, culminating in a mid-credits montage, which is a brilliant commentary about how folks view the world through a lens of utter certainty and passion. "It's so hard being a white dude." Lol, the actors they got for that were spot on. Give this guy a bigger budget next time!

I really tried to like this movie, it was only OK. When I rate movies (my own ratings) 1-2 is poor, 3-4 is below average, 5-6 is average, 7-8 is good and 9-10 is excellent. So this movie to me is only average on the low scale. For every movie I watch I list them in my spreadsheet with info such as the name of the movie, the year it was released, my rating, the type of movie it is and where I streamed it. This way I know if I watched a certain movie or not. I don't want to watch a movie twice, especially a bad or average movie twice. So I will not be watching this movie again. The acting in this movie is average and low key, if I was watching this movie at 3 AM in the morning I would have fell asleep. The budget must have been very very low. And the movie looks like it was shot with a VHS camcorder, especially the dark scenes, this movie was released in 2023, where is the HD. My smart phone would have had better resolution. I have found whenever you have a movie that is directed and written by the same person the results NORMALLY are not really good - as far as the movie being good. When you are the director and the writer of a movie nobody is there to tell you - no, do this not that and so the movie suffers. Maybe if this movie had a larger budget and better acting it would have been better. I have watched many low budget horror movies that actually were pretty good, so I cannot blame it on just being a low budget movie. At the time of my review there were only two reviews for this movie which were very positive and most likely were written by people involved with the movie. I'm not saying this is a bad movie, it just isn't a great movie or even a good movie. I know this is a horror movie but the actors responding to different situations in the movie are not realistic one bit. I did watch the movie to the end, so it wasn't too bad, I just wish it would have been better. Better budget, better acting, better resolution, better plot, better special effects, better suspense, and so on and so on.

I found about this movie from a Facebook group devoted to telling the truth about Mckamey Manor. I only just heard about Mckamey Manor and saw a Hulu documentary about it. This movie does a great job showing things are not always as they seem. The movie kept me guessing to what would happen next. I hope this movie leads to others finding out about the truth of Mckamey Manor and Russ. The acting is a little bit poor in the beginning, but it gets a lot better. The man playing Rob comes across as a creepy old me immediately to me but you see how the whole town loves him and sings his praises. The actor who plays Rob did a great job.
