It looks OK in the short but the actual movie if quite forgettable, with a few genuine life's. First thing first, the animation is very weird, may have been top shelf ten years ago but lacks real feel. In part I blame the eyes, they just giant discs that take away any feeling. Furthermore, many of the characters looked lifted from other animations. Mila looks like the bad guy from The Incredibles just turned into a female. Then there is the story, most of which we have seen done better elswhere, is staid and travels at a mediocre pace with no surprises. The voice acting is pretty average and clearly c grade talent. As bad as it it isn't so bad as to be terrible either, it's just terribly average. Young children will probably enjoy it to a degree but it won't be a favourite either. So if desperate for something to keep kids under 10 amused without adult supervision it may pass but parents will want to bang their head against a wall if they have to sit through it. So for me 4 stars out of 10.

From an adult perspective it was ok. My kids, 6 and 8, really enjoyed it. They watched it twice now and keep asking to watch it. Very family friendly. No questionable material which is a big plus in todays day and age.
This is one of, if not the worst movie I can remember seeing in the last decade. I was happy to watch the original Monster Family with my kids because it was entertaining, creative, and had decent animation. This movie is so far removed from the original that I'm convinced it could not have been made by the same producer: The plot is all over the place and impossible to follow; the animation is isn't even close to being in sync with the voicing; and of my (3) kids ranging in age from 1-5 years old, not one of them laughed through the whole movie. I created an account just to give this movie a bad review and have no idea how anyone else could give this better than 1 star. DO NOT WATCH.
Max comes from a line witches and dabbles in minor witchcraft and experiments on bats. He liked watching Mila Star catch a vampire and is crushing on her. When Mila kidnaps grandma (a witch) Max turns the family into monsters in order to get granny back. There was a lot that was bad about this cartoon, but somehow it grew on me. Mostly because of the eighties soundtrack. I liked hearing Frankenstein saying "ufda". And it was a love story.
Hadn't watched the first one but we needed a hallowe'en movie to watch as a family. The animation is top notch, however, the plot is a mash of generic monsters in peril, so cliched it's probably ironic "oh no we're monsters again?" inciting incident and uninspiring vocal performances. I think it's one of those productions where the producers need to sell it to different territories and with different voice actors, so you don't get any identifiable facial expressions or tics. The worst example is Nick Frost as the Dad. Usually the animators have the voice cast's performance to use as a guide but I'm sure here the voice cast were hired during or after production. All in all it was a forgettable 90 minutes with a weird mix of too much plot and not enough storytelling.
