No cliches, very well done. Real, near, honest, even, warm.
I must not have watched the same movie as the rest here apparently. I didn't find Paddleton as good as the vast majority obviously thinks. What could have been an emotional story just fell very bland to me. I can't help to see Ray Romano in anything else than in Everybody Loves Raymond. His monotone acting in that show just continues in this movie, it all looks the same to me. I always thought he was a bit boring to watch, and in this movie it's not an exception. I'm just not a fan of Roman, can't help it, to me he just ruins the movie.
In a nutshell. Two friends, who care for each other, embark on a journey where one finds out he is dying of an incurable cancer. The other friend is hurt, knowing he is about to lose his best friend and understandably doesn't want him to die. They become closer to each other during the situation and you see both their views on life. It is a powerful story about friendship and one that will cause you to weep. The movie may hit home to others who have faced a similar situation in their lives, and may cause others to feel the pain of both characters in a more intensive way. The story drags out in certain areas, as becomes mundane in certain scenes. Yet, it can be used as a tool to help other people in these situations to reflect on circumstances that are outwith our control.
Finally a good movie about straight friendship between two guys, and nothing have to do with the gay world.
