An ex-surf pro is forced to take a job at a beachfront hotel teaching obnoxious tourists how to surf. Soon he's the tennis pro, the yoga instructor, the handyman--he might even be the key to saving this family-run, Hawaiian-owned hotel.

Everyone has that quirky unassuming friend that is under appreciated. Aloha Surf Hotel is a story of that kind of a character finding recognition while extolling the virtues of a small island quality of life. Don't expect high budget writing or production, it's okay at best, but the character actors and the light feel has its charm.
Tai (Augie Tulba) is a former legendary surfer living out of his van. He's a scholarship student in college. It's been too long and a new Dean is taking over. He loses his scholarship and he jumps from one job to the next. This movie depends on whether one sees Augie Tulba as anything funny. I do not and that's why this movie completely fails. It's that simple. Everything else is pretty bad but they would still not work with this comedic lead. The weather news could be funny but he makes it all fall flat.
