I like this movie the camera work the constant light change inside the house and many more shots and moments that i found new and intriguing about like the eva scene poster and how they added this modern technology like the camera app on smartphone and the Siri-like assistant , good watch !
Not a horror movie, but just a horror of surviving watching this drivel. I regretted of my time, my money, and the same thing of all people who worked on this movie.
What can I say? It's just another horror movies among thousands of similar ones. It's not especially interesting but it could work better for a younger audience (like teens, I guess).
Never watched a horror movie that was Russian and this was a good one. am a very picky horror fan since I have seen the best ones that give me the creeps and have taken me months to get over,so was very surprised when I saw this and this movie deserves more than a 4,7 if you ask me Loved it and it is worth the try
Thus film needed a center. A lot of things happening just for the sake of happening. Production level is good. The English dub is a little corny. There are some creepy things in this, it just felt very chaotic and disorganized. Missed opportunities with this film.
Well, I must admit that I had expected more - a lot more - from "Baba Yaga: Terror of the Dark Forest" (aka "Yaga. Koshmar tyomnogo lesa"), especially since being familiar with the myth of Baba Yaga, then expectations were amped up. So I sat down to watch this 2020 horror movie from directors Svyatoslav Podgaevskiy and Nathalia Hencker. And I am sad to say that they failed to deliver. Sure, the storyline did have some promising aspects to it, but ultimately it just failed to deliver where it mattered. And the movie ended up being a less than mediocre movie experience and a watered down horror endeavor. Something that brought the movie further down on the rating scale, was the dubious acting performances. It was like watching wooden, rigid dolls milling about on the screen. And it seriously didn't help the movie one bit that the dialogue was so poorly written and brought to the screen with monotonous performances. The special effects in the movie were adequate. That counts for something, just not enough to make up for all the shortcomings that were making up the majority of this 2020 movie. For a horror movie, then "Baba Yaga: Terror of the Dark Forest" was a horrible swing and a miss. A rather boring and slow-paced endeavor actually. If you enjoy horror movies, then your money, time and effort are better spent elsewhere, trust me. My rating of this movie lands on a generous three out of ten stars.
I don't know how anyone can speak ill of this movie. The only negative that I can say is that I was unable to find a version that wasn't dubbed. All things considered, the voice acting is actually pretty good, but I very much want to see it subtitled. That being said, I have not seen a horror movie this excellent in A LONG time. The last good horror movies I can think of are Bird Box and A Quiet Place and this is better than either. It is actually in my top 10, or maybe even 5, now. The direction is amazing, the cinematography, the use of light and color, and the effects are all top notch. The acting appears to be excellent as well, although something is definitely lost in the dubbing. I love old Russian fairy tales, and Baba Yaga is a fantastic character to work from, and this story does not cheapen the old tales (although I was hoping for a house on chicken legs, just saying). Please watch this movie, I need the director to get recognition and money so that he can keep working. You will not regret it.
