Even my husband who doesn't like chick flicks liked this film.
Well... If you want (1) to watch a truly comedy movie without to much philosophical or sentimental crap and (2) want just to laugh, this movie is right for you ! I gave an 10/10 (A+++) to this movie, with all my heart. Because, it is a warm story about truly life, about people how they truly are, about loses and chances, about the child who is hidden inside each of us. P.S I often wondered why really good movies are low-scored in popularity on IMDb. In my opinion because there is something really, really wrong with film critics. Hence, dear watchers,do not read "serious" (but serious silly) critics, just listen to your inner voice and - just watch.
Fey and Poehler play sisters, one who never grew up, one who never gave herself much of a childhood, and when their parents sell their childhood home, they have one last hooray with the best party ever. It's the most classic of house party plots. When the parents are away the kids will play, and all hell breaks loose. The biggest difference and what makes this film unique from the others is that the kids who toss this party are forty-something. Which takes nothing away from the high jinks, only adds a strange depth to it. It's funny as hell from beginning to end. Fey and Poehler can through a fun party, and they invite a lot of their old Saturday Night live cast to it, who only make the party better. I had no doubt that Sisters was going to make me laugh out loud and it does not disappoint.
This movie is total crap. Cliché' formulaic, vulgar even for "R" rated. Unfunny with a couple of exceptions that ironically were clean scenes. The movie lacked any intelligence at all and whatever plot was in place was either non believable in any way or not worth following. It was like I didn't care. Plus the whole SNL Alum for the cast. Really? I'm good as SNL has mostly sucked for years. Tina, I read your book which by the way was terrific. What happened to you? Amy and Tina ought to take a hiatus from comedy. Waste of two hours. Can't say enough about how crappy this "thing" was. It wasn't a movie. It was a trainwreck. BTW, the movie Trainwreck had raunchy parts too but at least it was mostly funny. When you have comments like "balls deep in Joy" you should hang it up. You've lost your mojo. Both of you.
This movie is really about the party and not much else. It's as if they said, "Hey, wouldn't it be a great idea to have a movie featuring a party with a bunch of middle aged, middle class white people?" And then they wrote a lame plot around the idea of a party. The party has every aspect of a great movie-party as if they had a checklist. Music, dancing, copious amounts of alcohol, illegal drugs, driving under the influence, a girl-on-girl fight, a noise complaint and a visit from the police, destruction of property, etc. The only thing they didn't have was nudity. My suggestion is that you go live your own life. Go out with your own friends and have fun yourself and don't waste your time watching this lame movie.
Ill start by saying im a fan of tina fey i love 30 rock and wanted to enjoy this film but im sorry i did not. It feels like a cheap bad copy of step brothers the type of film that is straight to DVD and gets show on some obscure satellite or cabel programme. The john cena small role is quite funny and has some good one liners but thats about as far as ill go for good points. Sisters is a big let down, despite there being a great female cast, ones that in majority of films would get rave reviews but in this film its one to avoid. You get the feeling that this film had a original script that would of been so much better then studio idiots got involved changed this and that next thing you know this film is released to a disappointing fan base.
Meh. had lots of funny parts but also lots of unfunny parts and girly moments (1 viewing)
