Brant and Kimberly Daugherty are one of my favorite movie couples! I found this film to be very relatable and on trend with how people are currently living their lives. Many people are now taking time away from their busy schedules and opting for away trips where they can enjoy the peace that being in nature brings. And with the allure of "glamping" more people than ever have been attracted to and are enjoying the great outdoors. Being in the great outdoors might not be for everybody like the main character displays, but as this movie showcases no matter who you are with a little effort we can all learn to see the value of nature and respect it. I love the deeper message this movie has to offer. Also, loved the dog at the end! My favorite quote from this movie is "So on a scale of one to ten, how excited are you for this hike? And why is it a ten?" I thought that line was incredibly charming especially as a way of putting someone at ease. It's an original line and kudos to whoever wrote it.
Usually enjoy watching Brant but something missing, like he was acting down, maybe to allow his wife to shine. For her, she is cute but. Maybe it was the storyline. The scenery is nice but it too didn't do much to draw me to Utah. And if the dog was so important, why wasn't he present somewhere in the closing scene at the nature centre. Are those RVs that spacious and have standard room doors???? I now watch the credits at the end to see where the movie was made, the businesses that participated and the stand-ins. Curiously, one credit was "Optometrist for Mr. Daugherty - Mazzare"; now that is strange but I guess she contributed. Back to the movie, didn't hate, it was just mediocre and don't expect the usual Brant.
Love story in a state park staring a married couple, Brant and Kimberly Daugherty. They've done another UpTV movie, A Merry Movie Christmas, but while that was a fun parody, this had a more serious tone. The story is both common and different. A burnt out 5 star travel writer goes glamping and embraces nature for the first time. She meets a park ranger who is trying to upgrade his park. Basically no great highs or lows or surprises. The dialogue didn't have any spark. I was disappointed in the acting. It didn't seem to have any passion from any of the actors. What chemistry there was between Brant and Kimberly was quiet. I was irritated with the misunderstanding. Did Jackie hike on foot back or did she take a huge leap off the mountain in what she assumed?
For a movie on UpTV - this was cute. Nice story- not cheesy like most UpTV movies. It was nice to see real life married couple, Brant and Kimberly Daugherty work together again (like they did in A Christmas Movie Christmas). There was DEFINITELY chemistry between the two. Jackie's friend who rented the RV was a bit of a flake - and Sean's mom was a bit too smiley - but the story was still cute and believable. I will watch again ...
The problem with movies like these is that the main characters are always portrayed as clueless over the most obvious of things. They really didn't know that animals will eat food left outside? They didn't know how to level the RV, or bring enough quarters for the shower, etc. Etc. And the main actresses could not act. Moving on...
Seriously, who wrote this garbage? The leading lady character is 10000% unlikeable with zero redeeming qualities. Note I said the character not the actress. She was fine but no one could make the chapter they gave her good. This writing is terrible. No one actually thinks he's the problem right? She ignores all his advice, doesn't admit her mistakes, has the audacity to think he needs to improve the grounds, as though camping is meant to be glamping, all he is is nice to her and she acts like he's been rude while she's a holy terror. Seriously? Worst one of this yet. Whoever wrote this please get some writing lessons. I couldn't even finish she was too annoying to listen to. All she did was make him look even more incredible. Such a shame that the writer gave them such bad material. It's not like "hate at first sight turns to love" hasn't been done before and worked great. This just couldn't.
