We all have scars. Some more than others, and some of us can't sleep at night. Too many nightmares. Maybe, it would be best not to remember, but then we lose a part of ourselves. We struggle to fill the void even with simplistic things, but a little goes a long way like a small, thin thread slowly being pulled back into a fabric that was torn apart.
Not great movie, but my wife and I enjoyed it and laughed and moved emotionally. Not all movies can do that.
Really weird to watch but if you stick with it you'll end up getting into it and understanding the whole ideal of the film. Different but still intriguing.
Today this movie is underappreciated but in 10 years this is going to be praised by at least 80 percent of the viewers. Welcome to Marwen has unique and interesting story that tells about a man who gets beaten up and goes through a recovery with his figures in a miniature town called Marwen
So I've totally lost any respect for Rotten Tomatoes when they give this modest but solid entry a 25% and the scatter-brained Spiderverse 97%. They must be seeing something I missed. As I guess everyone knows, Carell is a former comic illustrator whose life fell off and then he got beaten permanently senseless by thugs in a bar. His means of coping with his loss of memory and grand trauma is to create a collection of doll friends, including himself as a dashing WW II pilot and ones for each of those who are helping him, along (unfortunately) with those who threaten him. There's some real good CGI when appropriate and a mild story line that doesn't go exactly as you would expect. I and my 13 year old equally enjoyed this movie and I don't agree with many of the Imdb reviews.

I'm baffled that so many people gave this film such a low score... it has depths and dimensions waaaaay beyond most of the generic crap produced today - perhaps that's the reason.... We've become so used to movies having everything explicitly pointed out to us... every emotion, every act and the implications of those thoughts, feelings and actions - that we can no longer just.... imagine. We can't imagine the pain, the trials, the shear effort involved in trying to piece back a life shattered for no reason... This is not just a morality tale of acceptance - this is a story of every man, woman and child's' life touched by random violence or catastrophe. Watch it with your kids ... and try and make them realise that consequences go on and on and on and on....
