I'd advice anyone reading this to NOT watch the movie!!!! It has no clear storyline, no back story, waaay too acted and no character depth. There is action with no sense. Killing with no reason. You know the killer from the beginning so no it's not a whodunit movie, I honestly donno what this is. It's like whoever wrote the script was extremely bored and sleepy when writing this coz what!!! Such a bad bad movie.🗑️ Worse than most out there. 🙄 I give it a 1/10

The film takes place on Halloween. The Cole family is handing out candy. Dillon Cole (Sal Rendino) eats as much candy as he hands out. He is the father. He is murdered by a man in a "Skulleton" mask, based on a film about a serial killer. Moira (Shawnee Smith) his wife manages to shoot the axe murderer before he can kill her grown son Connor (James Gaudioso) who still lives at home with his grown brother Michael (Drew Moerlein). The killer is named Lee Morris (Adam Shippey). He is discovered shot in the woods by his sister Samantha (Taryn Manning) a nurse who cares for his wound and binds him. He stays that way until next Halloween. We get the back story that Lee is Moria's cousin who knows he is mentally ill. Bruce Dern plays her psychologist which was not his best role. This film takes place in the early eighties. The story doesn't make much sense and it appears they left off some backstory about the detectives. Not well directed or edited. Guide: F-word. Near sex, no nudity.
I'm admittedly a Shawnee Smith fan, she delivers in this slasher shaped storyline. I put it more in the thriller, horror, slasher category because there are elements of all of them are in here. At some points the thriller, horror and slasher elements fight against each other making for a bit of an incongruous through line but not distracting enough to take attention away from the lead - Shawnee Smith. There are a lot of moments where the story really works to give background and development to the slasher/killer. It's the psychological and action pieces that make this shine enough to keep it relevant and unique enough to be a good watch.
Poorly written, poorly acted and the ending is just plain stupid. The "main villain" is a bullet proof copy of Jason Voorhees from Wish and everybody else is a one dimensional caricature made out of cardboard. People seem to trip and faint at the slightest gust of wind so that the plot can happen, if there was an actual plot. They kept flashbacking to something that didn't connect to anything else except on the writer's head. What was the deal with the flashbacks and why were they relevant, we'll never know. The script was probably written in 10 minutes on a napkin by someone on their way to their work. Would not recommend to anyone.
